The Festival Wedding of Ysella and Nicholas, Devon, July 2018

The sun was setting across Worthy Farm when Nick got down on one knee and asked Ysella to marry him. It therefore came as no surprise to me that Ysella and Nick has chosen a festival theme for their wedding in their native Devon.

Ysella is and Nick are old friends of mine (I lived next door to Ysella at university) who have recently set up their own pop up restaurant, with dreams of making it a full time venture. They are kind, lovable people who are great company and fantastic hosts.

Festivals, fresh food (as demonstrated in their pop up restaurant), long walks, camping, adventures and the South West of England are part of their identity and the things they love. One of the many things that they got so right on their wedding day, is that they reflected who they are in their celebration. It was an emotional, caring and somewhat windy ceremony that got the festival vibe just right.

Their day had everything that a festival should have; live music, fantastic food, vibrant colours, and some phenomenal glamping tents to put your head down at the end of their two day wedding.

Here are a few photos from their day.

The Wedding of Lilla and James at Villa Padierna Palace Hotel & Bronzzzano Beach Club

It was a beautiful June day as I arrived at Villa Padierna, ready to meet Lilla and her bridesmaids; it is easy to understate how beautiful this venue is and the suite I found myself in was no exception - understated elegance is the theme throughout.

Billie and Billy's Pre Wedding Engagement Photos in Malaga

We have known Billie & Billy for several years now; they too are a couple who work together so perhaps we have a deeper understanding of each other than many couples do… it takes a certain person to be able to work with their partner!

Billie & Billy rebuilt our old photo studio and office space to make it safe for our daughter, their skilled carpentry was in keeping with the 400 year old building we set up our company in, so it is no surprise that Billy planned to propose with a self made proposal ring (photographed).  If you followed us on instagram back in 2015 you will have seen their handy work.

When Billie contacted us to photograph their wedding day in Malaga at the place they first met, we welcomed the opportunity to photograph and celebrate with them with open arms.

It was great to catch up with them, to hear about their engagement in person and eat all of the tapas. We certainly did  eat!

We really cannot wait to be a part of their beautiful wedding day, and to see all that they have planned for it.

Having a pre wedding photo shoot is a great way to gain confidence in front of the camera and to get to know us, to go to a location that is meaningful to you both. Forget about the cheesy staged shots, let's go to a mountain, beach, landmark or somewhere that just makes you stop and go wow. It's time to relax and have fun in the sun or maybe under the stars... We know that our couples are all different so we try and plan to make things as unique and personal to you as we can

The Wedding of Andrea and Barry, Marbella

We met Andrea and Barry in Nueva Andalucia late last year and immediately felt at ease with them. They are kind hearted, relaxed people and we knew that we would get along with them fantastically on their big day.

People often underestimate how important a bond is between themselves and their photographer can be; when you click with someone you feel that you can trust them and the couple felt happy to entrust their wedding day to us.

June is a fantastic month to get married in Spain, it is very hot but not as stifling as July and August can be, and you get the longest days of the year and therefore some of the latest and longest sunsets. You’ll never hear of a photographer complaining about a beach visit for sunset and this wedding was no exception

These are a few of our favourite images from their day. You can find a few others on our galleries.

Erin and Sam's Wedding at Crockwell Farm, Eydon

It was our first time to Crockwell Farm and the surrounding areas that Erin and Sam call home and the weather held out beautifully for this May time wedding in Northamptonshire.

All I need to say about the couple is that they truly deserve each other in the kindest sense of the term. They are fun, kind, adventurous and were willing to be our guinea pigs with coloured smoke grenades - in fact they laughed their way through the smoke grenades and their answer to everything was always - yes let's do that!

Their wedding photos have since become a featured wedding over on the Crockwell Farm website - www.crockwellfarm.co.uk/wedding/erin-sam/ which is a beautiful venue nestled in the tranquil Northamptonshire countryside between London and Birmingham.

It was a fantastic, elegant and fun-filled day and one that we were delighted to be a part of.

Congratulations to Erin & Sam we wish you every happiness in the future as husband and wife.

Christina & Manjinder’s Wedding

It was great to fly out to our first British Spring wedding in March for the Wedding of Christina and Manjinder at Great Fosters in Surrey.

Through the moments of the couple getting ready, to the best man Kip practicing his speech to friends and the fantastic drummers in the evening it was a beautiful, heartfelt and memorable day.

Much like the couple themselves, their day exudes memories of warmth, a close-knit family and understated elegance. It was truly a pleasure to be a part of your day and we wish you every happiness in the future.

Elopement Photography

Did you know that Elopements have become a real trend in recent years?

What is an elopement?

According to wikipedia:

To elope, most literally, means to run away and to not come back to the point of origin. More colloquially, elopement is often used to refer to a marriage conducted in sudden and secretive fashion, usually involving a hurried flight away from one's place of residence together with one's beloved with the intention of getting married.

In times gone by this was a secretive yet romantic idea of marriage to an often forbidden love. In the 21st century it has taken on quite another role and whilst the romantic intimacy remains it is an alternative affair to a larger more traditional wedding. We love these tiny weddings.

The couple are often after a more secluded intimate venue or place of marriage, this may even allow them to travel to a dream location surrounded by just a few friends and family members. This allows the couple to travel across continents to a place that THEY wish to connect to each other.

As a destination photographer based in Marbella we are very lucky to be able to put on some boot or jump into the car and within a few minutes be on a mountain, a beach, under the shade of a tree in a vineyard or next to a waterfall... this is the spirit of any elopement; to be outside or at a special place connecting with the world around you. Perhaps where we are makes us love elopements even more.

At Bloomfield Photography we LOVE this spirit of adventure and will drive, fly, walk and trek with you to get to the destination of your dreams.
