The Wedding of Valentina and Simon, La Cabane & Los Monteros

These wonderful people flew in from their home in a beautiful part of Southern California to get married at the exclusive La Cabane Beach Club at Los Monteros Hotel. They married just as the summer was ending and the autumn was about to begin; a time that lends itself well to beautiful sunsets and very warm, but not stiflingly hot evenings.

One of the great aspects of getting married in Southern Spain is the weather that accompanies. I believe the Californian, Canadian and Russian guests were all more than pleasantly surprised by the warm evening at an 8.30pm wedding.

One of the other unexpected joys of being a wedding photographer in Southern Spain is the variety of venues; La Cabane is a modern, chic venue with exquisite dining & catering, views of the Mediterranean, pretty Andalusian external architecture mixed with ultra modern internal facilities. It also has the added bonus of attached to a prestigious 5* hotel. It is a very different feel to some of the more rustic, rural mountainous venues only a few minutes away, yet La Cabane has a charm that separates it from other prestigious beach clubs in Marbella. Being a wedding photographer in Spain you have access to this and a wealth of other prestigious venues.

Both Valentina and Simon were lighthearted and kind in their every interaction and have a North American directness that is an endearing mix; I’ve spent a lot of my life in North America so they felt somewhat reminiscent of old friends. Their friends and guests were also friendly, welcoming and highly sociable. After they had finished ‘joining tables’ at dinner, they partied late into the night enjoying the beautiful food and entertainment provided by Los Monteros at La Cabane.

The Wedding of Frances and Johannes at Castillo Santa Catalina, Malaga

The story of Frances and Johannes is a romantic tale. Frances is from Ireland and Johannes is originally German. They live together in Switzerland although life has not always been quite so simple for them…

Like many of our clients, they work in highly skilled industries that involve lots of travel and throughout their time together they have made immeasurable efforts to grab whatever time they could to be together whilst living and working in different countries and (sometimes) different continents.

I have a deep admiration for couples who make long distance relationships work, though judging by the warmth and kindness they show each other, I’m not surprised that they made this work. Somethings and some people are just worth the effort.

Frances and Johannes and their families are warm, kind people who really made the time for every guest who visited their castle wedding at the beautiful Castillo de Santa Catalina in Malaga.

Their wedding day was on a beautiful hot September day with low golden sun and the warm Spanish evening that enabled their guests to enjoy a shared dance in the courtyard before heading inside for the late night dance floor.

Congratulations! We wish you both every happiness in the future.

The Wedding of Lilla and James at Villa Padierna Palace Hotel & Bronzzzano Beach Club

‘Dear Sam

I can’t put into words how happy you made me with the photos. I just want to say the biggest thank you, we really appreciate you and your work.’ - Lilla

It was a beautiful June day as I arrived at Villa Padierna, ready to meet Lilla and her bridesmaids; it is easy to describe Villa Padierna as a beautiful venue, but you would miss it’s quirks and hidden beauty within that statement, I would prefer to call it a gem and the suite I found myself for Lilla’s preparation photographs was no exception - understated elegance is the theme throughout. The small sign outside states that VP is voted the most beautiful hotel in Spain - it is a fair award.

Lilla and James know the area well having met only a stones throw away from their chosen venues. They lived here for some time before moving to the UK for work commitment. I think that in their hearts they are lovers of the joys that Spanish life brings. I was impressed at how quickly Lilla jumps from her mother tongue of Hungarian through to English and Spanish. James is a gentle giant whose chipper ways are infectious to those around him and together they make a warm and kind hearted couple whose gratitude and kindness towards me on their day was rather humbling.

Lilla and James planned a beachside ceremony with their wedding reception at Bronzzzano Beach Club in Estepona; a modern beach side pool club with an outdoor ceremony area… here is a little glimpse into their day. You will also notice a few from their day scattered around our website and instagram page instagram.com/bloomfield_wedding_photography

The Andalucian Lakes Styled Shoot, Istan

In order to improve our own work and push our own ideas and practises further we are endlessly researching the work of photographers past and present as well as that of stylists and planners. One thing that we aim to never do is to stand still in our attitude to our work, we never stop trying to improve and hone our craft.

The workshop was co-created by Laura Charles and Claire White. Already knowing Laura of Reviva Weddings - her reputation as one of the top wedding planners in Spain speaks for itself and is well deserved. She was an architect of the upmarket destination wedding industry in Southern Spain and yet remains one of its’ most prestigious yet contemporary planners.

Claire is the founder of Butler and White. Since arriving on the coast we have closely followed her work and were rightly very excited to work with her.

What we particularly like about both Laura and Claire is that neither of them are willing to stand still despite the successes they have encountered as a byproduct of the love of their trade and craft.

To cut a long story short; upon learning that Laura and Claire were planning this photographic event we ensured that we were the first to sign up; we wanted to grow our own practise, experiences, network and most of all keep out of our comfort zone and experience something new and different.

It was a beautiful event and one of the many ways in which Helen and I are forever looking to constantly improve our practise.

A huge thank you to all of the suppliers involved in making the event such a success:
