Frequently Asked Questions

If you have more questions about how Bloomfield Photo can help, you’re in the right place.

Here are answers to some of the most common questions about working with us. Based in Spain, we serve the Mediterranean and Europe, and we’re here to help you with everything from planning your timeline to capturing your wedding day.

  • Yes. Bloomfield Photo specialises in destination weddings across Spain and Europe. We regularly photograph celebrations in Marbella, Barcelona, Mallorca, Seville and throughout Andalucía, working with international couples who travel to Spain for their wedding.

  • We take inspiration from fashion and editorial photography, focusing on composition, architecture, light, and atmosphere. Our goal is to create images that feel modern and thoughtful, while still capturing real moments.

Our style blends editorial photography, fashion, and documentary observation. We compose each image thoughtfully, and we instinctively know when to guide and when to let moments unfold naturally.

  • Our style is a great fit for couples who appreciate artistic photos, thoughtful direction, and an editorial eye. We’re best suited to couples who value atmosphere, design, and storytelling over lots of staged shots or detailed shot lists.

If you prefer a very traditional, heavily posed style, our approach might not be the best match. We see our work as creating art, not just a catalogue of images.

  • Fashion and editorial wedding photography focuses on composition, structure, and the intentional use of light. Instead of simply documenting events, the photographer steps in when needed to create images that look modern and refined.

This style balances real moments with an artistic touch, creating photographs that feel both honest and elevated.

  • We take on only a limited number of weddings each year so that we can give each one our full attention and creativity. This is especially important for multi‑day and destination weddings in Spain and across Europe.

  • We work closely with planners and design teams. By getting on the same page early about timelines and priorities, we ensure the photography flows smoothly throughout your celebration.

We’re used to working with luxury planners and design‑led destination weddings in Spain and across Europe.

  • Yes. We take a few photos on 35mm film at each wedding, using film to add a special touch to your gallery. If you love film photography, we can include more film images in your coverage.

  • Yes, we offer couples shoots across Spain. These are approached in the same way as our wedding work — considered, directional and always searching for new creative approaches. These are available to our wedding couples and those visiting Spain too.

Whether planned around a trip, a venue visit or simply as a standalone shoot, we focus on creating images that feel composed and natural without being overly staged. Spain offers incredible locations, from the streets of Barcelona or Seville to the rugged beauty of coastal gems such as Marbella. These locations offer a strong variety of backdrops, from architecture-led settings to more open landscapes.

Couples shoots can also work well ahead of a wedding, allowing you to become comfortable in front of the camera and to establish a rhythm before the day itself.

  • Yes, we photograph both engagement shoots and proposals.

Engagement shoots are typically more relaxed and can be planned around a specific location, trip or venue. They are a good opportunity to create a set of images that feel personal while also becoming familiar with how we work.

For proposals, we take a more discreet and structured approach. This is usually planned in advance, with careful consideration given to timing, positioning and light, so that the moment can unfold naturally without interruption.

  • Yes, we photograph elopements across Spain and in select destinations across Europe.

Elopements are approached with the same level of attention as larger weddings, with a focus on location, timing and overall flow. Whether it is a quiet ceremony by the coast or a more structured day across a venue, the aim is to create a set of images that feel intentional and complete rather than reduced in scope.

We can also advise on locations, timing and structure where needed, particularly for couples travelling to Spain who are planning from abroad.

  • Yes, we regularly photograph Indian and Asian weddings across Spain and internationally.

These celebrations are multi-day, high-energy and culturally specific, requiring a clear understanding of both structure and nuance. Our approach remains consistent throughout composed, observational and editorial, while adapting to the pace and scale of each event.

We are experienced in covering full wedding programmes, including pre-wedding events, ceremonies and evening celebrations, ensuring consistency across the entire set of images.

You can explore more on our Indian Weddings page, where we share full galleries and further detail on how we approach these celebrations.

  • We work with planners and venues across Spain to photograph design‑led destination weddings. Many of the celebrations we photograph take place in Marbella, Barcelona, Mallorca, Madrid, Seville and other Mediterranean destinations.

  • Yes. We can include pre‑wedding and post‑wedding events such as the welcome party, rehearsal dinner, or brunch in your coverage. These gatherings are usually more relaxed and allow for more personal portraits.

  • Yes, we regularly photograph weddings at Anantara Villa Padierna Palace in Benahavís, Marbella.

It is one of the most established and recognisable wedding venues in southern Spain, known for its architecture, scale and structured layout. The combination of formal gardens, open terraces and classical detailing allows for a clean, editorial approach to photography throughout the day.

Our familiarity with the venue allows us to work with its light, layout and timing to ensure each part of the day is approached with our signature direction.

You can explore more on our Anantara Villa Padierna Palace venue page, including full wedding galleries from the location.

  • Yes, we regularly photograph weddings at Las Sirenas in Sotogrande, near Marbella.

The venue offers a very different setting, with its distinctive architecture, expansive gardens and a setting that somehow creates a grand yet secluded atmosphere that adapts well to weddings with differing visions and scale. It lends itself well to celebrations that feel relaxed but still considered, with a strong visual identity throughout.

Having worked at Las Sirenas multiple times, we understand how to approach the space across different parts of the day, from open garden ceremonies to evening celebrations within the estate.

You can explore more on our Las Sirenas Wedding Venue in Sotogrande page, where we share galleries and further detail on how we photograph at the venue.

  • A team of two artists photographs every wedding. This gives you continuity, different perspectives, and thoughtful coverage without being intrusive. For larger or multi‑day events, we can bring in additional team members if needed.

  • Most weddings require 8 to 10 hours of coverage, starting with preparations and continuing through the evening celebration. We plan coverage around your wedding timeline rather than using fixed packages.

  • We do our best work when the timeline gives us space for movement and natural moments. If the schedule is tight, we’ll help you prioritise the parts of your celebration that matter most visually and emotionally, so nothing essential is missed.

  • We give direction when it helps the photo, but we also know when to step back and let moments happen naturally. We’ll guide you when needed, especially for portraits, while keeping the rest of the day relaxed and unobtrusive.

  • We don’t use strict shot lists. Instead, we rely on observation, structure, and our editorial judgement to tell the story of your day. Of course, we always plan and include group photos and any key family combinations that are important to you.

  • You’ll receive a carefully curated gallery, usually with 500 to 700 images for a single wedding day. Multi‑day weddings tend to have larger galleries.

We focus on telling your story with quality images, not just quantity.

  • Yes. We personally edit every photo. We take our time to make sure your final gallery looks clear, consistent, and visually cohesive.

  • You’ll receive a preview of your images soon after the wedding. The full gallery and slideshow are usually ready within six to eight weeks.

  • Your images are delivered in a private online gallery that’s easy to download and share. You’ll have access for at least two years, and you can order prints directly from the gallery.

  • No. We don’t deliver raw files. Your gallery is the finished collection of images, just as we intend them to be. Editing is a key part of our creative process and our signature look.

  • Our editing style reflects our creative vision. If you’d like a specific image adjusted, just let us know, and we’ll review your request individually.

  • Yes. We offer custom albums, printed magazines, and fine art prints for couples who want to enjoy their photos in print. We usually discuss these options after your final gallery is delivered.

  • Sometimes, we prepare selected weddings for editorial publication. We do this thoughtfully, respecting your privacy, timing, and what feels right for you.

If editorial publication is important to you, let us know during the planning process so we can keep this in mind.

  • Yes. We respect your privacy. We only share images for our portfolio or editorial features if you agree, or if we’ve made other arrangements with you in advance.

  • We provide bespoke quotes for each wedding, based on your celebration’s structure, length, and details. We don’t offer fixed packages, because we like to treat each wedding as a uniquely special event.

This approach helps us tailor everything to your plans, whether you’re hosting an intimate celebration or a multi‑day luxury wedding in Spain.

  • Yes. VAT applies to all weddings held in Spain in accordance with Spanish tax regulations, regardless of the nationality or residence of the couple or the photographer.

  • Most couples book their wedding photographer 3 to 18 months in advance, especially for popular dates between May and October.

Luxury venues and planners tend to confirm early, so booking your destination wedding photography in Spain as soon as you have a date and venue is always a good idea.

  • Your date is confirmed once you sign the contract and pay the retainer. We don’t hold dates without these steps because we only take on a limited number of weddings each year.

  • The process begins with a conversation. Please share your names, wedding date and location, and a brief outline of the celebration you are planning. From there, we’ll create a bespoke proposal for your destination wedding photography in Spain or elsewhere in Europe.

  • Choosing a photographer based in Spain means they know the venues, local light, climate, and planning timelines. Local experience helps with logistics, travel, and working with Spanish planners and venues.

This makes the whole process easier, especially if you’re planning your destination wedding from another country.

  • Spain is one of Europe’s top wedding destinations thanks to its beautiful architecture, warm climate, and world‑class venues. From historic estates in Andalucía to coastal villas in Mallorca and city venues in Barcelona, Spain offers a mix of culture, cuisine, and relaxed Mediterranean hospitality.

  • Choosing the right photographer is about more than just looking at portfolios. Look for someone whose work is consistent in different locations, lighting conditions, and wedding sizes.

Experience with destination weddings in Spain is key, as it means your photographer can handle new venues, changing timelines, and international planning teams. For many couples marrying in Spain, the best photographer brings together artistic vision, calm organisation, and experience with luxury venues.

  • Luxury wedding photography is about more than just the final images. You can expect clear communication, calm guidance, careful editing, and a gallery that captures the feel and design of your celebration.

We focus on details, discretion, and consistency throughout your wedding story, from your first enquiry to the final delivery of your images and printed work.

  • Yes. Many destination wedding photographers in Spain, including us, regularly travel between places like Barcelona, Marbella, Mallorca, Madrid, and Seville, as well as across Europe.

Travel is arranged in advance so photographers arrive early, adapt to the venue, and can start work without delay.

  • Yes. While our focus at Bloomfield Photo is editorial wedding photography across Spain and Europe, we’re often asked to recommend videographers and filmmakers. Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of working with talented creatives whose films bring a cohesive, complementary feel to our couples’ wedding visuals.

When we talk through your plans, we’ll take time to understand your priorities and the overall feel of your day, so we can share a curated list of videographers whose style and approach align with your vision.

For more detailed wedding videographer recommendations, you can explore our videographer directory, where we highlight some of the leading wedding filmmakers in Spain who specialise in cinematic wedding films.
